Global VillageThe article is about globalization allowing people to come together and help one another more effectively. In the 1800's, an Englishman who heard of an earthquake in China that killed thousands, he could do nothing. Now because of globalization, they can help those people in China by donating. From Non-Governmental and Non-Profit Organizations like Amnesty international, or campaigns started by regular people on the internet, like the international campaign to ban landmines. Major news corporations like BBC and CNN create such unrest in societies over issues halfway across the world that they can change the course of governments. Also, in the 1980's the BBC made a documentary that inspired the song "Do they know it's Christmas time at all." This easy access to caring for one another creates what some call a global village. However, some argue that it is Americanizing and killing other cultures and disregarding their values by replacing them with their own.
